3rd Sanct Bernhard Sport Obertauern Trailrun Summit OTS from July 10 - 12, 2026 - The most beautiful summit trail run in the Eastern Alps with seven technically demanding but manageable high-alpine competitions. For every performance level and for all ages from 0 years old.
The HOTEL ALPINA ½ Marathon Trail 1 Summit takes you from the start/finish area at the Radstädter Tauernpass in Obertauern directly to a steeper path where you'll climb the first 30 meters in elevation over a distance of 200 meters. Once you've conquered these 30 meters, you turn sharply left and after a few meters ascend the extremely steep Gamsleiten 14d ski slope towards the Achenrain Hut. Here you'll have to climb another 50 meters in elevation over 200 meters! At the top, you turn right and now you'll descend rapidly along a long stretch of gravel and paved road. After a sharp right turn near the Brettsteinalm, you'll run below the Kirchbühel ski lift to the Beatles memorial. At the Beatles memorial, leave the paved road by turning sharply left and, on the right edge of the Kirchbühellift ski run 25a, tackle the steeper cross-country downhill section across the unmown meadow (Caution: grazing area!). Once you reach the bottom of the slope, traverse to the left so that you emerge on the left side of the Kirchbühellift valley station. Continue straight ahead and use the stile to cross the fence behind the Zehnerkarbahn valley station. At the gravel road junction, turn right, and after just 70 meters, turn sharply left again onto the meadow. Follow the meadow and safely cross the B99 using ski bridge no. 2. Then ascend the steep slope of the Grünwaldkopf ski run (8a) – first in switchbacks and then crossing it twice – until you reach the gravel road towards Grünwaldsee. After 100 meters on the gravel road, turn left onto the undulating path to the Bärwurzkaralm, leaving the village of Obertauern for a considerable distance. Shortly before the Mayerlalm, the path ends at a gravel road. Here, turn left and follow the gravel road slightly downhill directly to the B99. Immediately after crossing the B99 (Caution! Safety officers are present!), you will reach the very well-known and beautiful Gnadenalm. After the first 11.3 km of easy and fast trail, you leave the alpine pasture area, heading first towards the impressive Johannes Waterfall. Following a short tarmac section to the Felseralm (only 1 km), you enter high alpine terrain for the first time. You now follow the trail steeply uphill through sparse forest, pass the Bodenalm cross, and then turn left onto the Central Alpine Trail and the Arno Trail towards Obertauern. After 4 km of gentle downhill on wonderful trails through light forests interspersed with mountain pines, you reach the steep Zehnerkar ski run 1e, about 100 meters above the Zehnerkarbahn valley station. Here, you walk steeply uphill to the right along the ski slope until you reach a T-junction directly below the Zehnerkarbahn. Turn left onto the paved gravel road, which leads to the asphalt road towards the Zehnerkarbahn mountain station. You then follow the asphalt road uphill to the Gamsmilchbar or Zehnerkarbahn mountain station. Then, walk along the right side of the reservoir and leave it behind by turning right on the opposite side, followed immediately by a sharp left turn to ascend towards the Gamsleitenspitze. The grassy path soon becomes a steep trail, which includes a short, very exposed section requiring absolute sure-footedness and a head for heights. Take care here! Once past this section, the grassy ridge widens, and you soon reach the Gamsleitenspitze (2357 m) with its new summit cross, rewarded with an unforgettable 360° panoramic view! Just below the summit, pass the Gamsleiten 2 chairlift station on your right and begin the fast descent (approx. 600 m downhill), first along the steeply sloping trail through easy grassy terrain and then along the natural path to the gravel road that leads you back to the Achenrain Hut. After the Achenrain Hut, you rejoin the Gamsleiten 14d ski run trail and follow the same ascent route as at the beginning back to the start/finish area. If you make it to the finish, you can be really proud of yourself!
