About the Race

The HOCHALM Easy Trail leads you from the start/finish area at the Radstädter Tauernpass summit in Obertauern to a steeper path where you'll climb the first 30 meters in elevation over a distance of 200 meters. Once you've conquered these 30 meters, turn sharply right and follow the moderately ascending natural path to the gravel road, and then on to the paved road. From there, follow the paved road slightly downhill to the Brettsteinalm alpine pasture and, after a sharp right turn, to the Beatles memorial. At the Beatles memorial, leave the paved road by turning sharply left and, on the right edge of the Kirchbühellift ski run 25a, tackle the steeper cross-country downhill section across the unmown meadow (Caution: grazing area!). This is also the most technically demanding section of the Easy Trail, where you should pay close attention to every step. Once you reach the bottom of the slope, traverse to the left so that you emerge on the left side of the Kirchbühellift valley station. Continue straight ahead and use the stile to cross the fence behind the Zehnerkarbahn valley station. At the gravel road junction, turn right, and after just 70 meters, turn sharply left again onto the meadow. Follow the meadow and safely cross the B99 using ski bridge no. 2. Then ascend the steep slope of the Grünwaldkopf ski run (8a) – first in switchbacks and then crossing it twice – until you reach the gravel road towards Grünwaldsee. Once there, you'll have already covered the first 2.3 km and 150 meters of elevation gain. Continue uphill on the steadily ascending Wisenegg gravel road and after another 200 meters of elevation gain, you'll reach Grünwaldsee. At Grünwaldsee, keep right and walk directly to the terrace of the Hochalm, where the refreshment station is located. After a short break, the final 50 meters of elevation gain await you. Follow the Seekar asphalt road steeply uphill before leaving it again after two bends, joining the path that leads you to the Krummschnabelsee nature reserve. Shortly after, you'll rejoin the Seekar road and reach the highest point of the Easy Trail at exactly 1,999 meters. Now you begin the 3.6 km downhill run. Stay on Seekarstraße until you reach the barrier in front of the Dikt'n Alm. After the barrier, turn sharply right across the Dikt'n Alm terrace and the meadow beyond, through the gate in the pasture fence, and over the wide wooden bridge until you rejoin Seekarstraße at the bottom. The final 1.9 km, a gentle downhill run through the Obertauern-Hundsfeldmoor nature reserve and European protected area, allows you to pick up speed again while enjoying the beautiful scenery and views of Obertauern. If you make it to the finish line, you can be truly proud of yourself!
