Hafnarfjall Ultra 2025

Hafnarfjall Ultra is a trail run event first held on June 28 2025 in the steep slopes of Mt. Hafnarfjall close to Borgarnes town on the west coast of Iceland. The event consists of four races, three of which are highly technical with relatively high elevation compared to the distances.

About the Race

The run starts in Borgarnes. From there the route crosses the Borgarfjörður Bridge and then up towards the mountain. The route to the summit follows a marked hiking path. After 7.9 km the runners reach the top (791 m above sea level) and from there the route goes down again, mostly following the same path as on the way up, all the way to the finish line in Borgarnes. The route is technical and some parts of it might be tough for people afraid of hights.
