赛道以垫江体育场为起点，初始是一段舒缓的爬升，选手们首先会经过天宝寨，这里以石阶路为主，难度适中。随后到达红旗山，可俯瞰垫江城全景。接着便是50K组的重头戏——垫竹古道，这条百年古道由青石板铺成，坡度较陡，两旁树木葱茏，阳光斑驳。
