Snežniški teki je glavni tekaški dogodek v občini Ilirska Bistrica in zajema tekaške in športne aktivnosti za vso družino. Vključuje tri tekmovalne proge za člane (10, 17 in 31km), teke za osnovnošolce (mladinski teki), pohod za odrasle željne rekreacije in druženja ter animacije za otroke. Start in cilj sta na Črnih njivah nad Ilirsko Bistrico.
Snezniski teki is the main running event in the municipality of Ilirska Bistrica and includes running and sports activities for the whole family. It includes three competitive courses for members, runs for elementary school students, a hike for adults looking for recreation and socializing, and animations for children.
Tek poteka po jugovzhodnih obronkih Snežniške planote, start in cilj sta na Črnih njivah nad Ilirsko Bistrico. Proga je v prvem delu speljana po dobro utrjenih makadamskih poteh med visokimi borovci in cvetočimi kraškimi travišči. Nato boste tekači prečili slikovito razgledno sleme Milanje (poznano tudi kot Volovja reber), z najvišjim vrhom Velika Milanja (1099 m), kjer domujejo velike zveri in ujede (planinski orel, beloglavi jastreb). Od tu se pogled razprostira na Brkine, Čičarijo z Učko in Slavnikom, Vremščico, Nanos, Kvarnerski zaliv s Cresom ter dolino Pivke. Ob lepem vremenu je moč opazovati Julijske Alpe in celo italijanske Dolomite. Tekli boste tudi mimo vojaških bunkerjev (kavern) t. i. alpskega zidu, kjer vas bo na razcepu tekmovalnih prog na 17 in 31 km čakala prva okrepčevalnica. Na 31 km progi sledi tek po makadamskih poteh skozi mogočen bukovo-jelov gozd Snežniške planote ter spust po odprti pokrajini do vznožja Kozleka. Po razglednem robu Snežniške planote, ki se v strmi stopnji bohoti nad dolino reke Reke se boste povzpeli na omenjeni vrh, kjer vas bo čakala druga okrepčevalnica. Tek boste v spustu nadaljevali po že omenjenem robu, skozi gozd črnega bora in preko suhih kraških travnikov do cilja.
The run takes place along the southeastern slopes of the Snezniska plateau, the start and finish are at Crne njive above Ilirska Bistrica. In the first part of the course, you will follow well-paved macadam paths between tall pine trees and flowering karst grasslands. Afterwards, the runners will cross the picturesque Milanja summit, with the highest peak of Velika Milanja at 1099 m, home to large animals and birds of prey such as the mountain eagle and the griffon vulture. From here, the view extends to Brkine, Ucka and Slavnik, Vremscica, Nanos, the Kvarner Bay with Cres and the Pivka valley. In good weather, you can see the Julian Alps and even the Italian Dolomites. You will also run past the military bunkers of the Alpine Wall, where the first refreshment station will be waiting for you at the junction of the 17 and 31 km competition courses. The 31 km course is followed by a run on macadam paths through the mighty beech-fir forest of Snezniske Plateau and a descent through the open landscape to the foot of Kozlek. You will climb to the aforementioned peak, where another refreshment station will be waiting for you, along the scenic ridge that rises steeply over the valley of the Reka river. You will continue your run downhill along the aforementioned edge, through a black pine forest and across dry karst meadows to the finish line.
