You’re invited to “run with kunanyi” – the famous mountain on Hobart’s doorstep that is rich in culture, history and incredibly diverse landscapes. The palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal community) generously welcome and share kunanyi with trail runners – whether you’re a seasoned ultra runner or reasonably new to running on trails.
There’s a nice bit of downhill before you head up the Main Firetrail with a view out to Hobart. From there, it’s pretty much downhill, through Cascades Track and gorgeous ferny gullies. You’re totally immersed in the mountain here, running past lush, green ferns. You’re so close to the finish but yet you’re a world away. There are several lovely creek crossings, where you can admire the beautiful stone work. At the bottom of Cascades Track you can follow your nose (literally!) as you’ll come past close again to the Cascade Brewery, across the paddocks and finish in the runHub.
