Il Campionato Europeo Master di Trail della Valtramontina ripercorre il tracciato 2020 del Three Lakes Trail. Lungo il corso del Meduna ci si immerge nella pineta per poi salire verso il più piccolo dei tre Tramonti: Vil di Miec, che si lascia guardare dall’alto di Nuiarz e da tutte le borgate ora abbandonate, tra mulattiere, rogge e percorsi suggestivi fino al borgo di Tamar, ora sapientemente recuperato. Passato il Lago di Redona e raggiunto il secondo lago, Lago di Selva, inizia la vera avventura. Ci si addentra in un a vallata che definire selvaggia è poco. Attraverso due gallerie scavate dai costruttori delle dighe (piovose ed inquietanti) lunghe oltre 1 km si arriva all’ultimo dei tre laghi, il Lago del Ciul, all’interno del Parco delle Dolomiti Friulane dichiarate dall'Unesco Patrimonio Mondiale Naturale. Oltrepassato il borgo ancora intatto di Frassaneit, che ha visto nascere la Pitina, alzando la testa si vede l’Aquila del Frascola (roccia simbolo della Valtramontina) e dopo pochi metri si scorgono le Pozze Smeraldine, alla ribalta internazionale grazie al The Guardian. The European Master Trail Championship of Valtramontina retraces the 2020 route of the Three Lakes Trail. Along the course of the Meduna you immerse yourself in the pine forest and then climb towards the smallest of the three Sunsets: Vil di Miec, which can be seen from the top of Nuiarz and from all the now abandoned villages, between mule tracks, canals and suggestive paths up to the village of Tamar, now expertly restored. After the Redona lake and reached the second lake, Lago di Selva, the real adventure begins. We enter a valley that is not defined as wild. Through two tunnels dug by the builders of the dams (rainy and disturbing) over 1 km long, we arrive at the last of the three lakes, Lago del Ciul, within the Friulian Dolomites Park, declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. After passing the still intact village of Frassaneit, which saw the birth of the Pitina, raising your head you can see the Eagle of Frascola (a rock symbol of Valtramontina) and after a few meters you can see the Emerald Pozze, in international prominence thanks to The Guardian.
