因感動於山區兒童每天步行數公里上學,一群熱心義工於2000年首辦挑戰12小時越野馬拉松,由於反應熱烈,同年再度舉行活動,自此成為本港其中一個大型越野跑賽事,為以改善困境兒童的教育及弱勢社群的生活籌募善款。
Inspired by children in mountainous regions walking miles to school daily, volunteers initiated a 12-hour cross-country marathon in 2000. The event, held annually since, has become a significant fundraiser for education and support of disadvantaged children and communities in Hong Kong.
42KM個人組別的起點為油塘(位於香港九龍觀塘區東南部)起,到大埔(位於香港新界的東北部)終點,參賽者需在12小時內完全程42公里的路程。途經香港經典健行路線衛奕信徑多座大山,爬升高,具挑戰性。參賽選手將征服香港2大名山-東洋山及飛鵝山。 艱辛地爬完數百梯級到達500米之東洋山, 回報是東九龍區的高樓建築與翠綠山景之和諧配搭180度景觀就在足下, 沿飛鵝山道多走1公里,獅子山與畢架山的壯麗景色就在眼前。之後沿柏油路下斜到獅子亭,之後轉入山徑繼續旅程,此段輕鬆易走,加上沿途可以欣賞到大部分沙田、大圍、吐露港及遠至是馬鞍山的景色,約一公里的上坡山路之後,便是下達山腰的下坡山徑直至山腰的引水道,繼續沿引水道一直前行之後,便是下達山腰的下坡山徑直至山腰的引水道,繼續沿引水道一直前行。沿著行人天橋橫過大埔公路,賽道連接不少路段都在山腰行走,先後途經兩個水塘,包括九龍水塘及城門水塘,繞著城門水塘而行的山徑,景色怡人。完成水塘路段之後上山柏油路經過鉛礦坳,再往下走山路抵達元墩下及碗窰,到了這裡終點在望,參賽健兒在鬧市行人路直奔至大埔終點.
The 42km solo category starts from Yau Tong located in the southeast of Kwun Tong District Kowloon, Hong Kong and ends at Tai Po located in the northeast of the New Territories, Hong Kong. Participants need to complete the 42km journey within 12 hours. The classic hiking route in Hong Kong, Wilson Trail, passes through many mountains and the climb is high and challenging. Participants will conquer two famous mountains in Hong Kong, Tung Yeung Shan and Fei Ngo Shan. After climbing hundreds of steps to reach the 500m Tung Yeung Shan, the reward is the harmonious combination of high-rise buildings and verdant mountain scenery in East Kowloon. The 180 degree view is right at your feet. Walk another 1km along Fei Ngo Shan Road, and the magnificent scenery of Lion Rock and Mount Beacon is right in front of you. Then, we walked down the asphalt road to the Lion Pavilion and then turned into the trail to continue the journey. This section was easy to walk, and along the way, we could enjoy most of the scenery of Shatin, Tai Wai, Tolo Harbor and as far as Ma On Shan. After about one kilometer of uphill mountain road, we went down the downhill trail to the waterway on the mountainside. We continued along the waterway and reached Tai Po Road. We crossed Tai Po Road along the footbridge. The race connected many sections on the mountainside, passing two reservoirs, including Kowloon Reservoir and Shing Mun Reservoir. The trail around Shing Mun Reservoir was very beautiful. After finishing the reservoir section, we went up the asphalt road and passed through the Lead Mine Pass, then went down the trail to Yuan Dun Xia and Wan Yao. The finish line was in sight here, and the athletes ran to the finish line in Tai Po on the pedestrian.
