Jey Jang, Chief Executive of JSCENO, the organiser of Ulju Trail Nine Peaks, the trail race hosting the APTRC, opened the ceremony. She expressed warm words of gratitude to the athletes, the volunteers, the Ulju government and the International Trail Running Association for bringing the championships to life – a project which has been 2 years in the making.

The medal ceremonies of the U23 race, the Short Trail race and the Long Trail race were held for individuals and teams with national anthems played and flags raised for each individual winner. These were emotional moments for athletes who were proud, relieved and joyful at their success – rewarding all the dedication and hard work required for a trail runner to compete at this international level.

After the medal ceremonies for the races, the overall team trophies were also awarded with Japan in 1st place, the Philippines as runner up and Hong Kong, China in third. This was followed by a photo on stage of every athlete who participated in the Championships – a chance to take the stage and enjoy a moment in the limelight, to raucous applause and appreciation of an audience in awe of the athletes’ performances at the Championships.

Janet Ng, the President of the International Trail Running Association, spoke of the warmth of the welcome from the people of Ulju and the amazing show put on by the athletes: “The APTRC has set a new benchmark for competitive trail running in our region. To all the podium winners, congratulations on your remarkable performances. But today I want to recognise everyone here. Each of you came to the APTRC with determination and fire and you made history for the sport we all love. Your energy, talent and grit have shown the world what trail running is about. Thank you for believing in the APTRC dream and for helping to build something together which is bigger than each of us!”.

The 2nd edition of the APTRC will take place in 2026. Every elite athlete in Asia-Pacific will be determined to be part of it.
